Week of September 30th

 I can’t believe that October starts this week! The time has gone by so quickly. We have some big things coming up this month, so please make sure that you check the blog often.

PARENT TEACHER CONFERENCES

Appointment times are completely filled up and every student has an appointment time with me scheduled.  Please note that I have enough slots available for each student and their family. I am excited to meet with you to talk about your student’s growth and goals!

MATH: We will start lesson 5 which really kicks off our multiplication unit. We will be learning how to multiply by 0s, 1s, 2s, 5s, and 10s. Below is the family letter explaining how I teach this lesson and it includes an activity that helps with this skill. If you would like to give your child extra practice with multiplication, this activity would be an excellent option to use.



ELA: This week we will be working on Unit 2 Week 1 in our Wonders program. Below is an outline of what we are learning in class. Our emphasis will be on rereading the text to understand and identify the author’s claim and supporting evidence.

MATH: This week we are moving onto lesson 4 which is our introduction to MULTIPLICATION!!! Below is the family letter explaining how I teach this lesson and it includes an activity that helps with understanding the meaning of multiplication. If you would like to give your child extra practice with multiplication, this activity would be an excellent option to use.



ELA: This week we will be working on Week 5 in our Wonders program. Below is an outline of what we are learning in class. Our emphasis will be on asking and answering questions to identify the central idea and key details of a text. We will also be taking unit 1 test!! Since this is our first unit test of the year we will take it together and use it as a chance to learn some test taking strategies as well as review all we have learned so far.

COOKIE DOUGH FUNDRAISER:

Our annual fundraiser starts tomorrow! Your child will be sent home with their fundraising packet. Everything will be turned into the office on Wednesday, September 25th. The school offers incentives for selling cookie dough and jerky. If you would like to watch the video administration put together you may access it here link. Dr. Dave and Ms. Angleee will be passing out Spooky Speedster prizes on Tuesdays and Thursdays before school starts in front of the library.

Week of September 3rd

 What a great group of students! I am already seeing their fun personalities start to emerge and have enjoyed getting to know them better during these first weeks of school!

Below is the family letter explaining how we round and it includes an activity that helps with rounding. If you would like to give your child extra practice with rounding, this activity would be an excellent option to use.
