April 28 - May 2

PLEASE HAVE YOUR STUDENTS AT SCHOOL EVERYDAY.  WE ARE REVIEWING DAILY AND BEGIN OUR END OF LEVEL BENCHMARK TESTS TOMORROW.

APRIL 28-MAY 3rd. We have end-of-year testing right around the corner.  Your child MUST attend school during the review weeks and testing days. Please let me know if your student will not be attending school on any of the testing days.  WE ARE REVIEWING EVERY DAY!  It is also important that they get a good night’s sleep, a good breakfast, and here ON TIME. All of our tests are first thing in the morning. Our testing window is April 28th & April 30th for Acadience Reading and Math. RISE testing window is May 7th – May 16th.

I will let the children chew sugar-free peppermint gum or mints during the RISE test.  Research does show that peppermint helps calm anxiety in students. Please let me know if you do not want your child to have gum during the tests.

IF YOU ARE WILLING TO DONATE GUM OR MINTS FOR THE CLASS, PLEASE SEND THEM WITH YOUR CHILD ANYTIME BEFOREHAND. **IT MUST BE SUGAR-FREE PEPPERMINT**THANKS IN ADVANCE 😉

  • We will be back in Roy at 2:45pm so you will need to make arrangements for your student to be picked up at that time.

 MULTIPLICATION FACTS:

At the end of the year we have a multiplication ice cream party. Many students are still working to earn their ice cream and toppings by passing off their multiplication facts. The end of the year is quickly approaching, so now is the time to crack down and memorize those facts! Each student should know which facts they are currently working towards passing off. Please ask your child what they are working on and what they need help with. I encourage you to take 5-10 minutes a day to work on these facts with your kids. And don’t overcomplicate it! Make some flashcards to keep in the car and practice on your way to and from school. If your child is unsure which facts they are working on, please reach out!

MATH – This week we will be finishing up TIME and ELAPSED TIME.  There is an activity attached to the family letter below. This is a good activity to do with your child if you want go give them some extra practice. Please continue to work on multiplication facts with your child at home. In class students will be showing what they know by passing off timed tests.

ELA:
We will be focusing this week on Text Features and how they help with understanding the text.

Happy Birthday, Jameson!
