Welcome New 3rd Graders!

I hope you have been having fun and making lots of memories this summer.  I cannot wait to hear all about them!  We will get to know each other lots throughout the year, but to start, here are some things about me.  When I am not teaching, you can find me spending time with my family, friends, and spoiling my grandbabies, cheering at sporting events, reading, traveling, side by side rides, and going to St. Anthony sand dunes.  I want to know more about yourself and what you like to do and send a fun picture from this summer to my email at anelson@questac.org.  I want to you to tell me what name you want to be called in class and have printed on your supplies, folders, and desk.  Also, parents, please have your students watch the mail for a special note from me.

I have many wonderful memories of when I was in third grade and I am excited to create more with you this school year!

I will see you at Back to School Night on August 18th, and then on the first day of school, August 20th!   The first three days of school are short days with early dismissal.

Here are a few things you can do now:
Subscribe to the Blog:  Please subscribe to the blog by clicking the button on the right and filling in your email.  **This is a new blog hosting site than previously used by Quest in the past**

I know how busy this time of year is and I want to help make it easier.  I will have everything purchased and labeled before back to school night.  You can pay at the Q1 office during Back to School Night or avoid the long lines by paying online here: ONLINE PAYMENTS marking "other" and typing "Nelson's Supplies"

Awesome, right? One less thing you have to worry about!  However, this does not cover student headphones. Please send those with your child on the first day of school.  Payments may be made on Quest's website by clicking "Current Families", then "Online Payments".  Enter my name and donation amount.  You may also use the link above.

Class Disclosure Statement:  Please read and sign Disclosure Statement

Food Permission Form:  This is a blanket food permission form for the entire school year.  The food items on this list are ones that we have used regularly in the past for class parties and for math, science, and ELA lessons.  Please check all items that your child can have.  There is a box for substitution suggestions if your child cannot have items on the list.  Food & Permissions for the Year Form

Parent Survey: The following link is a short survey to help me get to know your child better.  Please take a few moments to fill it out. Parent Survey

One way that you can help your child over the summer is to READ!  It is so important to have your child read for 20+ minutes eery day.

Welcome to Summer!

 Dear 3rd Graders,

Wow, what an amazing year we've had together! You've worked hard, learned so much, and grown in so many ways. I’m so proud of each and every one of you.

As you get ready to move on to 4th grade, remember all the wonderful things you’ve accomplished this year—how you tackled challenges, showed kindness, and never gave up. You’ve shown what it means to be curious, creative, and brave.

Fourth grade will be full of new adventures, and I know you're ready for them! Keep asking questions, keep trying your best, and never stop believing in yourself. You've got this!

Have a fun and safe summer—you’ve earned it!

With lots of warm wishes,

Mrs. Nelson

There are different levels of achievement available to allow all students the opportunity to participate and receive recognition for their efforts. We hope you will make summer learning a priority.

Week of May 19th

Tie Dyed T-Shirts: On Friday, your child will bring home a wet tie dyed t-shirt in a ziplock baggie. We are asking that your child wear this shirt on field day. **I could use a couple volunteers to help bag the tie dyed shirts Friday as well.

Here are the washing instructions:

Step 1: Rinse in warm water, then gradually cool water until rinse water begins to run clear.

Step 2: Carefully remove rubber bands with scissors and unfold the fabric.

Step 3: Wash in warm water with a mild detergent, rinse and dry.  You might want to wash with an old towel and nothing else.

Multiplication Ice Cream Party: The much anticipated event is finally here this Wednesday! If you have said that you are able to help, please meet in the cafeteria at 2:00. ***We still need volunteers if you are able to help tomorrow afternoon***

Important Dates:

  • May 21 – Math Science Olympiad – 9:00-9:45
  • May 21 – Multiplication Ice Cream Party – 2:00-3:00
  • May 23 – Dollar Dress Down
  • May 23 – Yearbook Signing
